I have been a Nikon shooter since receiving my first DSLR, the trusty D7000, back at the beginning of my photography journey in 2012. Now, almost exactly 10 years later, I was honoured with two awards in the Nikon DACH Female Facets competition for 2022. I won the Landscape category with my image “Sustenance 4”, and I was in the top 4 runners up in the Wildlife category with my image “Protect Me”.
This prize is one of the greatest honours of my photography journey. It is a privilege to be acknowledged by the brand that I have supported for 10 years. But more than that, it is an honour to be awarded by inspiring female photographers that I admire so much: the Nikon Female Facets Mentors. Alina Rudya und Marion Payr, Anna Heupel, Alexandra Evang und Tanja Brandt, Christine Garcia Urbina, and Heike Jasper – thank you ladies! You are phenomenal!

Desert: “a waterless, desolate area of land with little or no vegetation, typically one covered with sand.” And yet, there is life in the desert. More than most people realise. In the Namib this is thanks to the wonderful miracle of fog – the clouds that roll in from the Atlantic Ocean bring with them moisture that sustain the fauna and flora living in this beautiful, harsh landscape.

African Elephants – the endangered giants of Africa. After decades of poaching for the ivory they carry in their tusks, these magnificant creatures have officially been declared “Endangered” when it was added to the IUCN Red List in March of this year. The moment captured in this photo symbolises the vulnerability of these giants due to their valuable tusks.
